The colour is clear. It is, as far as I am aware, the only product to use to seal MDF before either painting or varnishing. So if MDF is what youv'e got then this is what you want. Go ahead and buy a pot. You won't be disappointed. **Q: Is this product suitable for outside use, eg. a bird table made from MDF?** A: This product provides a treated MDF surface that is capable of receiving a gloss paint, varnish or other sealant that makes it waterproof. **Q: As this is water based, does it cause the MDF to swell at all?** A: I coated my MDF quite liberally with multiple coats and didn't notice any swelling. Very watery which is easy for MDF surfaces ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 23 July 2023* I do tend to look for Ruskins with paint and the like, so I went for this when buying a new work bench with an MDF top (unfinished).Easy to apply, dries quickly so 3 coats didn’t take long and I have plenty left for my next task. Generally quite pleased with the results as it gives a good finish but I’ve found that water based things do still soak through so, obviously, 3 coats is not enough for unfinished MDF.
