Product Description          This is the ultimate in clear filters. It will not affect the color balance or performance of your lenses in the slightest. However, constant use will protect your valued lenses from expensive front element damage which could be caused by dirt, knocks or scratches. Digital multi-coated filters greatly reduce the appearance of lens flare and ghosting caused by reflections. Filters feature a black matte aluminum satin finish almite frame which reduces reflections. These filters are equipped with black rimmed glass to reduce the chance of light reflecting off the edge. Ultra thin filter frames to help avoid vignetting on super wide angle lenses are also designed to hold a lens cap. These filters are equipped with a straight knurling edge for non-slip, easy attachment and removal.     Saves cost of a new lens

I tend to buy Hoya UV filters for my lenses as their quality is excellent whilst not being outrageously expensive . Having read that UV filters are not really necessary for digital cameras, but still wanting to protect the lens, I decided to purchase  this filter . A lens hood protects a lens to a certain extent but having a filter adds that extra level of  protection and it is much cheaper to replace a filter than it is a lens. Hoya has an excellent reputation as a filter maker and I have used them for many years. This filter does not affect the quality of the image and is multi coated. Happy !

As ever, spot on. I have several of these for my lenses in various sizes. Not cheap but why would you spend a fortune on good glass and then stick a bottle bottom on the front of it? Near invisible and not degradation of IQ at all I can see.
