Hole would need to be small relative to the diameter of the pipe. Area round hole needs to be freshly filed for removal of surface oxides. Heat needs to be applied very carefully whilst prodding/scratching around the weld area with the dura fix welding rod to watch for it starting to "wet" onto the surface of the pipe. Otherwise should work ok - I have used it to repair the thin walled tubes of some of the elements in an FM aerial which got broken in a gale last winter. I was using it to fill spotweld holes in the rear of 40 year-old Landy. I cleaned everything thoroughly and then used the supplied ali brush to ensure it was clean. I heated the aluminum as directed then wiped the rod around the holes and it ran and puddled as stated. I moved the the second hole and repeated this and all was fine. So, it works on aluminum bodywork ... but... I used an entire rod just on the bottom of one rear panel.
