I was quite annoyed as I have brand new 09 plate Mazda 6 and the car wash left a fairly large and noticable scuff mark along the nearside passanger door and all over the handle. So I decided to invest in a scratch remover and after reading a LOT of information on the web and getting quite confused along the way, i decided that this particular product was getting regular positive reviews. I was a bit scepitcal as often these types of products dont live up to the hype and what they claim so it was with a lot of trepidation that i took the plunge. What you get in the box are two 25g tubes (No 1 is the cutting compound and No 2 is the polish), 2 cleaning cloths and 4 strips of sandpaper. Instructions are recommended as follows: For superficial scratches (ones that you can run a fingernail over without feeling the scratch) it is recommended that you clean the area with a cloth first, apply some of tube No 1 to one of the cleaning cloths and go over the scratched area in a circular motion applying pressure for approx 1-2 mins. Then you apply some of tube No 2 to the second cloth and go over the scratched area to polish it and give it a mirror finish. The sandpaper is needed if the scratch can be felt by running your fingrnail over it, in which case you need to sand down the sratched area first being careful not to expose the primer!! Then use No 1 and No 2 as mentioned above. Lucky for me, my scuff marks were superficial so i didnt need to sand anything. I must admit, i had to apply tube No1 for slightly longer the a couple of mins and after a while my hand was cramping up!! Saying that though you can actually SEE the product working before your eyes, its amazing. The scuff marks that were so prominent earlier, were disappering as i was rubbing the compound in. After applying the polish the scratched area was as good as new! I tried looking for any masked scratched marks or any trace of them being there and couldn't find anything. Highly highly recommended! Review: Great little item for upcycling hobbies - I bought the antique gold and the black and they have been great at transforming super shiny gold items into more vintage, aged pieces. Really easy to apply and work with. I use a tiny paintbrush for delicate detail and a cloth for larger areas - then buff and it’s good to go! It’s a shame I cannot find antique brass as a colour - no one seems to do it - but the gold with enough black can be a good compromise. I did have very good luck with it. **Q: does it blend in the color of your vehicle** A: Yes, in the beginning a white paste is created but that just aids in helping you know what area has to be buffed. Truth be told, I was more concerned about taking sandpaper to my Cadi than anything else. But I was really impressed with the result and started looking for scratches to erase on my bike, which it did. Btw, my Cadi is red and the bike is black. It didn't alter the color on either. **Q: Does this just fill the scratch in ?** A: The technical term for how Quixx PSR works is Plastic Deformation. What actually happens is that spherical shaped, extra hard micro polishing agents produce a very high pressure on the surface causing the paint to exceed its elastic limits. Thus, the surrounding paint material is then allowed to flow back into the scratch. Additionally, the corners and the edges of the scratch are rounded by the polishing agents allowing a smooth surface to re-emerge. Quixx will do a good job on fine to medium scratches. It does not temporarily cover up the scratch. If the scratch is repairable with Quixx PSR, it is removed for good. If the scratch is too deep, a professional will have to be employed to repair the area. **Q: It appears to be great on surface scratches. So I assume it would work on scuff marks and scratches from shopping carts and door dings?** A: Yes, Quixx PSR is wonderful for use on scuff marks, color transfer from other objects, etc. Quixx PSR is designed to remove scratches. Thus, Quixx is not suitable for a door ding. If may remove a fine scratch or color transfer (ie: scuff mark) from the door ding, but the actual indentation will not be repairable with this product.
