The 590 has a removable magazine tube cap, that is different than the fixed cap on the 500s. Below is from GGG. But in some cases the 500s have the removable cap, so you have to check you tube cap before purchasing. If your Mossberg 500 shotgun has a removable magazine tube end cap that is not fixed attached to the tube, you need to purchase the GG&G Flashlight Mount manufactured for the Mossberg 590 versus the one for the Mossberg 500. **Q: will this fit a Mossberg 500 20 gauge?** A: Yes, That what I have. Works Great I have a Flashlight on mine. **Q: What is it made of Steel or aluminum?** A: Both.... Looped part of Mount is steel. Rail section is aluminum. **Q: Will this switch to the other side for a left handed?** A: No, it is specifically designed to fit with the magazine under the barrel and cannot be switched around. The company may be able to provide one that fits on the other side - but on my 500 the other sling mount is on the same side...so you might want to make sure you can switch that one too or you will end up with sling mounts on opposite sides of the weapon.
