There is a metal counterweight that hangs from the candleholder base so you need to hang on a pretty firm branch. The lighting effect is just like a glowing, dancing flame. You won't be disappointed because this is as close to a real flame look as I've been able to find in an artificial lighting product. Now and then a candle will go dark when my cat gets in the tree - I find that turning the set off and back on again "resets" the candles and they all come on again. Also, the candles need to be balanced on the branches to move. Hardly a problem ever. Everyone who saw them on our tree has thought they were real until super close inspection! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very pretty *by T***. on Reviewed in the United States on 23 December 2015* I had seen these before when we visited a Christmas store on vacation. They were double what I paid here so I was happy to Find Them cheaper. I bought 2 sets which allowed me to spread them over my tree. They are super cute with the flickering flame. They seem heavy duty enough that they should last a long time if taken care of. The wire in between candles is plenty long to spread them out. The balance allows them to sit nicely on the branch but I still wrapped the branch around it to support it better.
