I have purchased a number of books recently on the subject and although a lot are very informative this book is not only informative but it is fun to read; it is a book you can flick through [it is scrap book style]....the art work is great and colourful. It is a great reference book. My personal opinion is if you are starting out in this subject then this is a great book to have; had I bought this one first I may not have bought some of the other books. For me, this book will probably be used more than the others I own. I have since picked it up a few more times scanning through pages and wondering "what if" maybe it will convert me to a believer. The book is full of essential information for creating spells along with detailed recipe lists and alternatives for those items that are harder to find. If you are thinking or purchasing this book as a gift for someone who is obviously into this kind of thing then DO IT they will not be disappointed, my wife wasn't. I Love this book and it is now my basic reference book of shadow journal. My money is not wasted and i'm happy that i have invested it in this amazing book which is rich with pictures and examples,so you are not lost while reading it.
