Just pop in in a container of water for 15 minutes and allow it to soak then simply rub it on the whetstone to create a creamy slurry and use that slurry to fine tune and polish the blade edge. Oh, and try not to drop it, especially when it is dry as it is brittle and will easily chip, crack or break. It is normally used with the higher grade stones (6000 grit and above) once the blade edge has been established by honing on several lower grit stones.
