I wanted one even though some complained about the loud rattling that occurs as they move about. The axe has to be somewhat loose in the scabbard so it can be easily, quickly, and safely extracted and reinserted - thus the moving around and rattling. I bought one, used it for a day, and returned it. It performed great but it was too distracting and loud. The manufacturer agreed that this is the case and accepted it back after my slight use. Since I really need such a sheath I turned to this Weaver model. It arrived promptly and fits my axes nicely. Best of all it is safe and easy to use AND it is quiet. Walking through the woods is, once again, peaceful and calm. The Arborist scabbard is clearly up to the task and built very strongly, and from the right materials. While aluminum is harder and more cut resistant, I have no doubt that Weaver's plastic-lined model will outlast me and my future years in the forest. It is very well made and gives me great confidence. The leather exterior seems more harmonious with nature. The belt holes are slim and tight. Once I got things where I wanted them I felt excellent about the sheath staying exactly where I want it. Its been perfect when in use. I'm delighted with this product. If I lost mine I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. Review: Sturdy and stable - I purchase the axe sheath along with the wedge pouch. The axe sheath is made of the same high quality leather but thicker that the wedge pouch. There is a hard plastic lining sown inside the sheath to protect the leather and keep the sheath open to make it easier to insert your axe. The belt slot will not accommodate a belt over 2"inches wide. I have a 2"inches belt and the axe sheath does not move once it is adjusted to the right position on your belt. I recommend this sheath even for the weekend lumberjack or cottager processing firewood.
