I use a thin bladed knife to open lids. I'll persevere because I like them and it's too much hassle to send them back. Also, they hold a goodly amount of sugar, coffee and tea bags. Less hassle re-filling so often. Value for money because they were reduced. Perhaps other purchasers found them difficult to open too and sent them back. The packaging looked as though it had been opened previously then sellotaped.
