From the manufacturer How to use your Braun ThermoScan 3 Step 1 Put on a new, clean, disposable lens filter by snapping into position. Our disposable caps help prevent cross-contamination and keep the lens free from dirt and build up that might affect your thermometer’s accuracy. Step 2 To turn the thermometer on, push the "start" button. The thermometer is ready to use after two beeps are sounded and the non-flashing ear icon appears. Fit the probe snugly into the ear canal, then push the "start" button. Step 3 One beep signals normal temperature. Audio fever indicator will trigger 2 consecutive beeps when the reading is equal or higher to 37.5°C and 4 beeps if the reading is equal or higher to 38.6 °C. The result is shown on the display. Step 4 Gently pull off the disposable lens filter. Do not use force in removing the disposable lens filter. The thermometer turns off automatically after 60 seconds of inactivity.

Review: Excellent device - I decided to get a digital thermometer after having difficulty reading my old mercury manual one. I chose Braun because I know the brand well. This is simple and easy to use. At first I was getting error messages until I realised that you have to position the thermometer in the ear before you switch it on otherwise the thermometer tries to take a reading when you are moving it, and it needs to be stable. Once I realised my mistake, taking temperatures is a doddle. I went for this model because I just need a device to tell me the temperature without the fancy additions that some more expensive models have. This one beeps once when the temperature is normal, twice if high and three times if very high. That is absolutely fine for me. It comes with a slide of disposable covers, and I have also purchased another stock of these on desertcart so that I always have plenty to hand. I've also purchased a Braun case to store it in. A very good product, especially at the current price of £21.

**Q: Does this come with at least one ear probe cover or are they needed to be bought before initial use?**
A: Yes, it comes with a small pack of them. Can't remember how many, but the refill packs have 20 in each & think it was the same pack size with the thermometer. I ordered replacement covers with the purchase anyway as have been using it daily to monitor my recovery from an op. Highly recommend for ease & accuracy. Hope that helps.

The Braun ThermoScan 3 is very easy to use and works well for its purpose. The measurement is quick—just about 1 second—which is great when dealing with restless little ones. It’s clearly designed to be family-friendly, especially suitable for babies and infants. The reading accuracy is very good, though not perfect—especially for newborns it performs well enough to give a reliable indication of fever. While it’s not 100% precise, it’s close enough to be trusted for everyday use. The brightness of the digital display isn’t the best, which can make it a bit harder to read in certain lighting conditions. Overall, the value for money is excellent, making this a solid choice if you want a fast, user-friendly, and generally accurate ear thermometer for home use.
