Needs low ambient light if used outdoors although there is an Enhancement Mode to brighten the laser a little more. Requires flat surface to hold base of device against. Requires 2 hands to operate. One to firmly hold the foot of the device against the flat surface, the other to depress the operate button which must be pressed once to turn the laser on and again to measure. This means user must have, say left, shoulder against the wall while holding the device underneath with the left hand. The operate button needs to be pressed from beneath the device with the other hand while twisting one's head across the opposite shoulder to look at the point of the laser on the opposite wall/surface. Not easy but achievable with practice.The edge of the device to be held against the flat surface is much too small. The device is easily rocked out of alignment when depressing the measure button which increases the measured distance with a potentially considerable error. IMO the device needs a larger square foot (as an attachment) to help hold the device against the surface to prevent it from rocking. The only way to overcome these errors as the device is, is to measure the same distance 3 times, requiring 6 button presses and then look at the results, discarding any that are obviously in error when compared to the others.All of the modes such as distance, area, volume, are dependent on having the device free from instability when held against the surface. Overall the device can be used to achieve accurate measurements but the outcomes are totally dependent on user technique. I would buy again but IMO one needs to practice a lot before making actual measurements that you intend to use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ fantastic *by M***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 May 2017* Twenty quid! Brilliant. I had bought one from toolstation previously but it was erroring when trying to measure within an alcove - it didn't have a visible laser spot like this one. When I tried this one I realised that the wall wasn't straight and it was breaking the laser beam half way along the wall!Measures more accurately than I do with a tape measure, and so much faster. Easy and fast to measure the inside of the house. The level bubble isn't great but its better than nothing.The trigonometry tool is spot on, tested it by measuring the height of a room directly, and then using the trigonometry option and there was 1mm difference (probably due to my shaky hand!).I ordered this model because I had seen a professional kitchen measurer use it and he said it was a very good tool. It is as accurate as it says on the box. I have recommended it to my colleague and she is going to buy one.The only problem I have found is that it can easily be turned on if something knocks the on/off switch whilst its in my bag, but I just make sure i pack it so this can't happen.
