It’s always been a learning curve. I’ve always been a plug in and play kind of guy and a little ignorant when it comes to these things, but have been using certain pedals over the last couple of years. Cannot recommend this pedal enough. Works absolutely flawless with my Marshall DSL50 Head. With the level full, tone at about about 4.8 and drive on zero it helps a ridiculous amount in controlling the overall tone. The bass is tightened up and sounds less ‘flubby’, the overall sound is so much tighter and defined. If you play mid to high gain I couldn’t recommend this enough. I wish I had known about this pedal back in the day seeming as it’s been unchanged since around 1980/1981. Review: Great pedal. Smooth sustain. - Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. Comes with a 9v battery so useable out of the box. Didn’t buy an adapter, just using batteries for now and works great. ## Features - Since 1981, the SD-1 Super Overdrive has been a go-to gain pedal for generations of players—trusted across genres for its reliable tone and performance. - Built on the groundbreaking asymmetrical clipping circuit of the iconic 1977 OD-1—one of the first-ever BOSS compacts—the SD-1 carries forward a true overdrive legacy. - The SD-1 delivers rich, smooth, and highly musical overdrive tones that continue to inspire guitarists everywhere. - A cornerstone of pedalboards worldwide, the SD-1’s signature drive has defined the sound of a generation. - Responsive overdrive tones that cut through the mix with focused mids and controlled bass. - Enhances clean and low-gain amps with just the right amount of grit. - Perfect for tightening up high-gain amps with extra focus and punch. - Easily stacks with boosts and other overdrives for a powerful, customized tone. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0013NDBS6 | | Amperage | 30 Milliamps | | Audio Output Effects | Overdrive | | Best Sellers Rank | 1,179 in Musical Instruments & DJ ( See Top 100 in Musical Instruments & DJ ) 3 in Guitar Distortion & Overdrive Effects | | Brand | BOSS | | Brand Name | BOSS | | Colour | Yellow | | Connector Type | 1/4 Inch | | Controls Type | Knob | | Country of Origin | Taiwan | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 3,121 Reviews | | Finish Type | Painted | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00761294008508, 04957054008505 | | Hand Orientation | right | | Hardware Interface | 1/4-inch Audio | | Included Components | Main unit only | | Item Dimensions | 15.2 x 10.2 x 15.2 centimetres | | Item Dimensions L x W x H | 12.9L x 7.3W x 5.9H centimetres | | Item Type Name | SD-1 | | Item Weight | 0.9 Pounds | | Item weight | 0.9 Pounds | | Manufacturer | Roland | | Manufacturer Part Number | SD-1 | | Model Name | sd-1 | | Model Number | SD-1 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Power Source | Corded Electric | | Product Warranty | 1 year. | | Product dimensions | 12.9L x 7.3W x 5.9H centimetres | | Signal Format | Analog | | Sound Profile | Warm, Mid-Range Focused | | Style | SD-1 | | UPC | 700315930275 705625159682 761294008508 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Voltage | 9 Volts | ## Product Details - **Brand:** BOSS - **Colour:** Yellow - **Item weight:** 0.9 Pounds - **Product dimensions:** 12.9L x 7.3W x 5.9H centimetres - **Style:** SD-1 ## Images ![BOSS SD-1 SUPER Overdrive | Compact Overdrive Pedal | Genre-Defining Sound & Feel - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/714EH7lqNRL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Style** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Does the pedal need a power supply box? If not what power supply does it need?** A: All Boss Stomp pedals use the same power supply and are worth having Amazon supply them just type in Power supply for Boss Stomp pedals. You can use it also on a PP3 9V battery but Battery may only last a couple of hours so better off with Power supply and save you a fortune on Batteries. You can use the power supply on any other pedals as well. From Memory about £15.00. for PSU. **Q: is this pedal for Valve amps only?** A: This is a classic Boss effect which works well with most guitar amps. **Q: What plug adapter is suitable for this pedal?** A: BOSS PSA 9 V Adapter **Q: If I played the mandolin strumming chords and then used the pedal for an instrument would the volume increase?** A: This question doesn't quite make sense. Use the pedal for an instrument? Or use it as an amp? If the later, you'd still need an amplifier. Would it boost your signal? Yes, but unless you want O/D on a mandolin, why not just turn your amp up? ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Guitar players best kept secret! *by M***H on 13 February 2023* I’ve been playing guitar for nearly 28 years.
