Cheap price. Easy to set up. Picture and number of channels first class. Money well spent. Review: So far, so very good - I don't normally write reviews. For the very low price this is remarkable. Setting it up was really easy and the instruction booklet is more than adequate albeit difficult to read due to the small text. You must use the remote to control it, so the sensor must be plugged in. It's true that the remote is a little clunky and the guide is not the sort typically found on more expensive devices, however the guide is very easy to use and once you get used to it, quite acceptable. I have been recording programs via the PVR for the few weeks that I have owned it and it has never missed a beat. The picture quality is excellend via the hdmi connection. You can schedule many recordings over many days/weeks, you only need to ensure that you have sufficient storage on your usb stick. That it records to a memory stick is an advantage to me as it allows to transfer recorded programs to the pc where if need be, I can then play the program on Windows Media Player or VLC etc. Once copied to the pc you can convert the video (mts.) into another file type to suit the needs of any portable player. I have played the recorded mts. video on a different LG smart tv via it's usb port and it works absolutely fine, so mostly I intend to keep with the mts. format. Subtitles and text (red button) are both supported. **Q: How much voltage is needed to power the unit? Wanting to take it on a boating hoilday so would need to be 12v from cigarette lighter or 5v usb powered** A: the unit needs 5v at 0.3a so a 5v 1a good dc supply would do,so a 5v usb supply should be ok ( a good one not one from the pound shop) **Q: does this fit directly on to the tv and how easy is it to tune in** A: It can fit directly on the TV and this is how I am using it. I used the SCART socket on the TV and plugged this in directly. The plug is on a swivel and can be positioned through 90 degrees so this goes into the TV with the box pointing down. It doesn't weigh much so there is no stress on the plug and socket. It is very easy to tune. Once you plug it in it comes up with a very easy menu asking you a few questions and then goes through automatically finding the channels. **Q: Does this have a port to plug in an infa red remote extender** A: Hi, there is a RF remote control lead supplied so the remote can control the unit, lead is about 1m long. Programs can't be deleted from the recording list, you have to do it from the multimedia menu. I found the recordings to be very poor quality (some were unwatchable).
