Review: Peace of Mind After a Break-In – PATLOCK Made All the Difference - A few years ago, we never imagined needing something like the PATLOCK. But everything changed when a problematic neighbour moved in. Without warning or provocation, he caused criminal damage to our property and car—and, most distressingly, he broke into our home by forcing open the patio doors. The experience was deeply unsettling, leaving us feeling vulnerable and unsafe in what should have been our sanctuary. On the recommendation of the police, we purchased the PATLOCK, and it gave us something we hadn’t felt in months: peace of mind. Knowing that our home was now protected allowed us to finally sleep soundly at night again. Many people don’t realise how quickly standard patio doors with traditional handles and locks can be forced—often in under 30 seconds. Burglars frequently target the rear of the property, making patio doors a common entry point. The PATLOCK addresses this critical vulnerability by providing a highly visible deterrent during the day and robust protection when it matters most—at night. Designed for double doors with internal horizontal handles, the PATLOCK is incredibly easy to install. Its ratchet locking bars secure the unit in seconds by holding the internal handles firmly in place. This prevents the external handles from being operated, ensuring that the door mechanism remains locked—even if the locks are snapped or removed entirely. One crucial detail: be sure to install the pair of tamper-resistant spindles that come with the PATLOCK. Once fitted, these spindles cannot be removed from the outside, significantly enhancing your home's security. Installation takes just five minutes and adds a vital extra layer of protection. Another huge plus is its simplicity. The PATLOCK can be fitted or removed in seconds—just slot it over the handles and slide the locking bars into place. There are no keys or codes to remember, making it both practical and user-friendly. It’s also incredibly well-built. The materials are strong, heavy-duty, and clearly made to last. While it’s not the cheapest option at around £60, the quality and peace of mind it provides more than justify the cost. In our case, it has made a world of difference. If you’re looking to secure your patio doors, I have no hesitation in recommending the PATLOCK. It’s a small investment that delivers priceless reassurance.
Review: Impressed! - I'm impressed with how secure & strong the lock is. Its neat looking & very easy to install & remove. It gives me added security & peace of mind. I highly recommend it.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I bought one of these last September but this year pressing all the release buttons didn't release it, would oiling make any difference, any ideas?**
A: Hi as there are no mechanical parts as such I can't see that oiling would do anything. We have found periodically that some of the new Patlocks seem stiff to operate at first and that the heavy duty steel rods do not slide in and out as easy as expected. However this is simply sorted by sliding the patlock in and out 5 or 6 times which then removes any hidden burrs and will make it much easier to use. Once done this will not occur again. However I wonder if perhaps you may need someone with strong hands / fingers to be able to really push the indents in to release it fully?

**Q: My handles are not smooth. They have nobbles on them Would this device fit over them?**
A: I would think so. The holes where the handles slot in are a lot bigger than the handles themselves.

**Q: Does this product fit all patio doors. ? I have a new property two years old and went to know if it will suit?**
A: Not all patio doors. If the ends of your patio door handles are wider than 35cm, it won't fit over them and lock.

**Q: Do you have to fit tamper resist spindles? Is it easy and worth fitting?**
A: Yes you should always fit the new spindles, because if not, then Mr Nasty could simply prise off the handles and push the existing spindles through the door and the Patlock will fall onto the floor, rendering it useless.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best security for French Doors
*by J***P on 2 October 2023*

The Patlock Instant French Door Patio and Conservatory Security Lock proves itself to be a robust and effective security enhancement for homes with French doors and conservatories, and a must have for anyone with french doors. This review highlights the key strengths and minor drawbacks of this product. Pros: Straightforward Installation: Installing the Patlock is a straightforward process that requires no special tools or technical expertise. The included instructions are clear and concise, ensuring that even those with limited DIY experience can easily secure their doors. Universal Compatibility: One of the standout features of the Patlock is its ability to fit a wide range of French door styles and sizes. This universality allows it to be utilized in various settings, making it a versatile choice for homeowners with different door configurations. Visible Deterrence: The Patlock's conspicuous presence serves as a visual deterrent. Its prominent position on the door sends a clear message to potential intruders that the property is well-protected, potentially dissuading them from attempting a break-in. Easy Installation: Unlike some traditional security measures, such as bolts or bars, the Patlock does not require any permanent fixtures or alterations to the doors or frames. This means it can be easily removed if necessary without leaving any unsightly marks. Cons: Limited Application: While the Patlock excels in securing French doors, it may not be suitable for all types of doors or windows. Its design is tailored specifically for double doors. Price Consideration: In comparison to standard locks or additional deadbolts, the Patlock comes at a slightly higher price point. While it offers advanced security features, it is relatively more expensive compared to traditional alternatives. Overall this is a great product, with a big pricetag that personally feels justified for how sturdy and secure it is. Giving peace of mind all year around about the ease of access into your home.
