Review: Brilliant Product -Indoor Stargazing - This is the first meaningful review I have written for anything I have bought on desertcart. I will be brief. If you are looking to buy a planetarium/star projector for someone, this is the product to get. I spent three days reading the often contradicting feedback for planetariums online, and viewing the curiously priced competing products on this website. As far as I can tell this is the very best one in terms of value for money and what the projection actually does. The others are either cheap, have a poor focus or other defect or project stylised drawings of stars rather than constellations. This has a sharp but adjustable focus focus, isn’t too noisy (no more than a laptop) and casts a good image on your ceiling. There is a shooting star button, turn it on and after a minute or two a star will pass across the sky –it is not immediate though. This repeats every few minutes. I bought this for my partner who loves stargazing and it has made her exceptionally happy. Falling asleep to it is a very soothing experience. I would rank this as the best received present I have got for anyone ever -and this is a testament to the product's quality. Two disks -one with constellations mapped, one of just the stars. Delivery was quick, it does arrive in the product box with a delivery sticker, no other external packaging which is something to be aware of depending on where you are having it delivered e.g. if the recipient is likely to take it at the door.
Review: Good product, but not worth the money - What you get if you buy this product: - A projector that provides a good, oval-shaped projection. If you place it in the centre of a room with a 2-metre high ceiling, it will project across the majority of the ceiling, maybe missing the very corners where the projection is rounded. It also has the ability to adjust focus to suit your needs. Sound from the motor is barely noticeable on the slowest speed setting, and faster speeds aren’t significantly louder. - “Falling Stars” in the form of a secondary projector that occasionally overlays a streak of light on your main image, the frequency of which depends on how quickly the main projection is rotating. - A radio that’s not as intuitive to use, but the manual helps you set it up. The automatic search isn’t perfect, picking up a number of fuzzy stations it barely has a signal for and saving them as presets. The auxiliary input, however, is very nice for playing your own relaxing melodies to cover the sound of the rotating motor. - A stand that allows you to keep it steady as well as adjust its angle so it can project onto a wall if you wish. - An instruction manual that gives you just enough information to let you do what you need to do with each function. - 2 slides for the projection, one with a constellation map, including labelled diagrams, and one with just the stars. Inserting these discs can be confusing if you don’t know it has to line up perfectly with all the little notches. - An auxiliary cable for the audio input, basic cable, nothing special about it. - Some additional educational material in the form of simple puzzles that look like something a space-themed restaurant might print on their kids menu. - Batteries included to get you started, though in order to install said batteries, you need a small screwdriver to access the battery compartment. Not exactly simple for a young child. What you don’t get if you buy this product: - A plug adapter. Seriously, it comes with 3 basic AA batteries that look like they’re from a £1 store, but for £69 (I got it for £35 on sale, and even then), it doesn’t even come with anything to let you plug it into the mains so you don’t have to worry about battery life. - Any additional slides. At all. I don’t even see the option to buy any more, and considering you only have one slide with diagrams that doesn’t even seem to distinguish between hemispheres, it’s a bit lackluster. Overall, I expected more from something with the National Geographic brand, especially at this price. Like I said before, I only paid £35, and even then, I’m struggling to feel like I got good value for that. I feel sorry for anybody that paid the full price tag. My rating - 3/5. A resounding “meh”.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: do the images rotate?**
A: Yes, they rotate very slowly at the same rate the Earth rotates. Or alternatively, there are two buttons that allow you to speed the rotation up a bit, both clockwise and anti-clockwise.

**Q: Hi, I am interested in purchasing this item as a gift for my 11year old Nephew.
Please would you clarify the following:
1. Will the images rotate around?
2. Is this item quiet?
3. Is it possible to use this item with an adaptor?
With Thanks From Gail**
A: I've recently purchased this for our 4-year-old and can confirm that the images do rotate (four speeds available). It is reasonably quiet, you can hear a little bit of noise while it rotates - you can also opt for it to stand still. I think you can buy a separate adaptor, just a standard one, but I haven't done. It's still running on the batteries it came with and it's lasted really well. You set the images to rotate according to today's date and I like that function: you see exactly what your part of the sky looks like that time of year. It comes with discs for both Northern and Southern hemispheres which I also liked, in case your nephew wanted to see what it would look like on the other side of the globe! Hope this helps! I would recommend it!

**Q: Is there an option to see stars with or without constellations marking? Thanks.**
A: There are two slide lenses that come with it. One has constellations markings and the other is the projection of a starry sky with no markings.

**Q: How big can the image be and remain in focus?**
A: When I project it on the ceiling it's about 2-2.5 metres across. You can always manually focus the lens, so it could probably get bigger provided you have enough space (it needs at least a couple of metres between the projector and the surface you're projecting it on).

### ⭐ Poor quality
*by B***M on 11 December 2018*

So disappointed with this. The build quality is very poor, like something you'd pick up at a pound store. As for the actual projection, again just really poor. Very underwhelmed as this was a gift for my girlfriend who loves starlight. Even if I'd paid half the price I'd be disappointed, massively overpriced
