Review: Will charge a completely dead battery. - Brilliant bit of kit, actually works. I am always sceptical of these units and went for a brand that is well known and trusted, and I am glad I did. I have a 2.2l Diesel and it started it first time, so power wise, no issues. Really easy to use, simple to charge. Comes with a small bag to store everything in, which is nice. Cable lengths are short but not an issue. My car's negative point is covered in my car so the leads were long enough for me to connect to a grounding point and the positive point on the battery. Kit seems robust enough so should be pretty durable, it doesn't feel cheap.
Review: It starts engines and it’s handy for camping - I’ve had this for a couple of years now so have had chance to use it now and again. It started my wife’s (1.4L petrol) engine immediately when the car battery went flat, and again the next day, without a recharge in between. I had less luck trying to start the 2L petrol on a Mazda I had SORNed for two years during the pandemic - but it turned out the battery on that was completely gone (along with the bodywork of the car, sadly). So it definitely works for jump starts but it’s not going to provide you with a miracle. I have also taken this battery on a few camping trips. Its solid, rugged design makes it much better suited to tent life than are those slim portable batteries designed for business trips. It also has a decent torch built-in, and you can never have too many of them when you’re camping. I’d estimate it can recharge a modern iPhone from almost dead to full approx three times along with occasional use as a torch - so it can supply a family for a night or two, provided the kids are round the campfire not hiding in the tents on their iPads. You probably wouldn’t want to use it heavily for camping, as like any battery it may degrade to the point where the primary car start function fails, but it’s a nice bonus. I’m pleased with this purchase. It’s a handy device to keep in the boot of your car at all times and has the bonus capability of providing battery power outdoors. Even if you have other cars around, it’s easier to use this than traditional jump leads: you don’t need to move two cars close enough for the jump leads to reach, or open two car bonnets.

**Q: Can it jumpstart a 3.2l diesel engine?**
A: I’m not a mechanic but the RAC man who came to my rescue and told me to get one said it would start 5l engines. It has started every vehicle I’ve needed it to no problem so far.

**Q: I want to return to amazon (uk).  all courier firms i have contacted say they do not accept lithium batteries. has anyone found someone who does?**
A: We contacted Amazon and all the couriers they provided could not ship the return.
We did our own research and contacted UPS UK and they were extremely helpful on the phone telling us what needed to be done. Their website instructions were clear and easy to follow. They even called to advise their driver was running late. If you ever need to return batteries in devices like this and you're in the UK, try UPS. Hopefully Amazon will take note of this and get their call centres to advise of useable couriers.

**Q: How long are the leads on the GB40?**
A: Not very long, about a foot in old money - you can get an extension if you find that they wont reach comfortably.....

**Q: Charged & followed instructions (inc. o/r function) failed to start 2.2ltr engine. pack down to 25% power after 4th attempt. is this a product fault?**
A: I have a Mercedes clc 220 diesel. I fully charged the Noco, connected it and it couldn't start my car. It made a very half hearted attempt to start it. Trying to start it completely drained the noco. It claims to do up to 3 litre diesel but this model isn't man enough for the job

Brilliant bit of kit, actually works. I am always sceptical of these units and went for a brand that is well known and trusted, and I am glad I did. I have a 2.2l Diesel and it started it first time, so power wise, no issues. Really easy to use, simple to charge. Comes with a small bag to store everything in, which is nice. I’ve had this for a couple of years now so have had chance to use it now and again. I'm writing this to reassure anyone like me, who is hesitating because of the negative reviews. They are rubbish - it does work. After many weeks sitting in the drive during lock down, my 2L diesel car would not start. The radio was working and the locks opened, but when I tried to stat the engine, the starter turned over slowly and then died completely. So the battery had enough power for the electrics, but not enough to start the engine. Trying to arrange someone to come and jump start it would have been difficult with lock down and social distancing, so one of these starters seemed like the perfect product. I looked at various models and brands, but they all had negative reviews. The NOCO was the one which looked most professional, but I was again put off by the many reviewers saying it was useless, didn't work, and in one case saying the RAC were laughing at it for being Mickey Mouse. If I had been relying on the Amazon reviews, I wouldn't have bought it. But I was telling a colleague about my car being dead, and it turned out they had this model, and they were raving about it. So I took the chance and bought this one (GB40) Well the negative reviewers are either lying, or didn't read the instructions.. It's not junk, it's not a toy, and it really works. I plugged it in to the wall when it arrived, and it was fully charged in a few hours. I didn't have time to take the car out for a drive that evening, so I just unplugged it and stuck it back in the box it came in. Next evening, I connected the cables to the car battery, still a bit unsure whether it would work. The instructions didn't really clarify what to expect, but it initially made a clicking noise and seemed to be trying to read the battery. However, from the instructions, I knew I would need to press the boost button, which I did (for the specified 3 seconds), and the white LED came on as detailed. Got into the car, turned the key, and bingo. It started first time. And the charging lights showed it was still green. It was great to be able to choose when I want to start the car up, instead of having to arrange a jump start with someone else. And given the situation with lockdown, it's nice to know I've got this on hand in case the same thing happens. I can see why my colleague was raving about it - you know how much of a hassle jump starting your own or someone else's car is...and this just makes the whole thing a doddle. And since it's so small, it feels a bit magic too! So do not be put off by the negative reviews. It was so easy to use and worked so reliably, I can't see why anyone would claim it's useless. I can only assume they didn't read the instructions (a hefty three or four simple paragraphs).
