Do you really need 5 inch blade to take along when you're hiking just to put some jam on your croissant? Need to open a can? You won't use that 5inch blade for that anyway, striking a ferro-rod? Most of those big suckers are coated or got beveled edge, so you need a special striker for that, Batoning a wood? Yes, that big blade might be useful for this, but are you batoning a wood on every hike?...I think you got the idea. Anyway it's a great knife for the price, lock mechanism is strong, quality amazing and you're getting all the useful tools you may need when out and about city-boy, great as a back-up tool too. Did I mention that you can use the spine of the wood saw to strike your ferro-rod? See you on the trail! Review: I didn't entirely believe that a stainless steel blade could be as good as real toolsteel edge - but the blade on ... - I was a little afraid to buy one of these. Despite the high reputation of the SAK, I didn't entirely believe that a stainless steel blade could be as good as real toolsteel edge - but the blade on this knife is superb. It arrived with a basic grind. Sharp enough to whittle but not razor sharp. I just gave it a few stokes on an old silkstone I have and it came up scary sharp. As good an edge as I've ever seen on anything. Definitely a handle-with-care item. It has a locking blade, which makes it illegal to carry in public without good reason so it's not for general use. Ideal for camping trips or walking in the woods. ## Features - FORESTER: The Victorinox Forester is the ultimate lock-blade pocket knife for the seasoned person who works in a wood or a day out in the forest with the family. You'd need to be carrying it a backpack full of outdoorsy gear or somesuch to get away with it. From the government website: "Lock knives are not classed as folding knives and are illegal to carry in public without good reason. Lock knives: have blades that can be locked and refolded only by pressing a button can include multi-tool knives - tools that also contain other devices such as a screwdriver or can opener..." **Q: can the knife be engraved** A: Yes of course. A blade could be engraved but you would only see that when it was open and the plastic handle could be engraved but that wouldn't be so long lasting. **Q: Is the biggest blade 3 iches or smaller? Legal to carry in uk?** A: Not legal to carry as it locks **Q: scales are scratch resistant?** A: Yes, not the usual shiny scales you usually get with victorinox. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Find your own way... *by S***W on 29 August 2013* Even tho, I'm a knife collector and quite serious Hiker/Bushcrafter I became tired of all those 'survivalist' type folks selling you knives with the motto "bigger is better"! It has the usual durability one would expect from Victorinox with a superb wood saw to boot. Unfortunately it has to stay in my workshop as it is a lock blade knife and illegal to carry in public safe and sound in a pocket! It is quite sturdy but if you want to carve a totem pole from an oak tree it’s probably not the tool for you. ## Frequently Bought Together - Victorinox - Forester Swiss Army Knife (Black) 083633 - Victorinox Huntsman Swiss Army Knife, 15 Functions, Swiss Made Pocket Knife with Large Blade, Screwdriver, Scissors and Wood Saw - Red - Victorinox Swiss Army Medium Lockblade Nylon Belt Pouch --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.gr/products/48034892-victorinox-forester-swiss-army-pocket-knife-large-multi-tool-12](https://www.desertcart.gr/products/48034892-victorinox-forester-swiss-army-pocket-knife-large-multi-tool-12) --- *Product available on Desertcart Greece* *Store origin: GR* *Last updated: 2026-10-09*
