Review: Very fast with the right drive, and very easy to use - I originally bought this as a quick way to connect my old laptop drives so that I could make sure that everything was backed up before wiping them. Connecting the drives way easy, as they just slide in while the power's off. The lid just slides forward from the back when you want to put a drive in. Browsing and copying the files was fast and smooth, and there were none of the usual slowdowns you get when transferring files over USB. Where the enclosure came into its own though, was when holding an SSD. Copying files to and from the enclosed drive is very fast. I haven't noticed much of a difference between having the drive connected inside the computer. I've even used it as a boot drive to run Linux, and there are no slowdowns when running an operating system from an SSD in the enclosure. I'm writing the review now because I'm buying a second enclosure for my wife to use, as I've found it so much faster than a regular USB pen drive. Obviously it's bigger than a pen drive, but in my opinion, the massive increase in speed is worth it. The only downside is the cable. It's great and works excellently, but it's USB A on both sides, which tends to be unusual. It's not a major issue, but it does mean that if you break the cable, you're not likely to have a spare to hand. That's literally the only downside i've found to this enclosure though. I highly recommend it :)

**Q: What exactly is this? An External HD?**
A: It is an enclosure that you mount an internal hard drive in to basically make it external. Once you mount the hard drive on it you can then use the usb to plug it in.

**Q: Does this work with an SSD SATA III?**
A: Yes. I purchased it to clone my laptop HDD to an 850 EVO 500 GB SSD SATA III http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E500B-AM/dp/B00OBRE5UE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436897118&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+ssd+850&pebp=1436897118987&perid=0KYJ973XR7E3QJP29AAR. After I installed the SSD into the laptop I use the Sabrent as a backup for the HDD I removed from the laptop.

**Q: Is this enclosure made of plastic or metal (aluminum preferably) I don't think it says anywhere in the product description. Thanks in advance!**
A: The case is plastic. Your laptop hard drive that you put into the plastic case is aluminum. The plastic case come with a USB cord to plug into another computer to access any stored files on the hard drive that you insert into the plastic case. The hard drive that you insert into the plastic case will also serve as an external hard drive. On the plastic case there is an on and off switch and a blue light that illuminates when turned on. VERY IMPORTANT: before you unplug it from your computer you must click on the icon and eject the device. You have to do that process with anything you plug into a computer. If you do not eject any device plugged into a computer you run the risk of erasing what is plugged into the computer. Also do not get any hard drive close to a magnet because the magnet will erase a hard drive

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ tooless SSD enclosure thats works fine but details can spoil a good product

I had a spare SSD which i wanted to use as extra storage for laptops in the house. I chose this due to the tool less design by the same brnad as one of my SSDs. It was easy to install my SSD inside and worked just fine. There is a switch to turn off the drive without disconnecting which is great for backup devices. However the cheap plastic case lacks a quality feel which i have had from other enclosures at a similar price point and the annoying bright blue LED indicating that its on cant be turned off and its a bit jarring in a clean setup or darkened area. Not bad for the money and easy to use but details sometimes spoil a good product
