For rain it will work, I clip it to my backpack and got little rain. Effective. A little flimsy. *by P***L on 10 September 2021* The torch is relatively bright, certainly more than bright enough to work from. With the solar panel and hook, it can be clipped on the outside of your rucksack to remain charged at all times. I have two main complaints: 1) the crank handle is very flimsy - I am really not sure how long it is going to last - fine for a last resort, but I would not trust it day in day out; 2) The light reflector behind the LEDs is not very efficient. As a consequence, when the torch is on, the front half of the torch glows.
