The glass is actually clear with a mirrored surface on one side, and the effect is very pretty. As an added bonus, sunlight refracts through some of the pieces of glass and throws little dots of light on our outside wall when the sun shines.When deciding which brand to buy, went to the manufacturer's web site to read more about the glass and used the guidance on their site to determine how much to order. We ended up with more than we needed, but that might be a plus because we didn't have any of the fines (small pieces) that some people have complained about - those would be with the leftovers in the bottom of the bags out in our garage.Also want to note that the web site is quite clear that propane, which burns hotter, is likely to darken or blacken the glass. The site recommends ordering a dark color if your fire pit is propane. We have a natural gas fireplace and the glass remains clear and sparkly after maybe 20 uses. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The perfect Glass to compliment our new Fire Table *by K***L on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 22, 2020* This glass is the perfect product to compliment our new fire table. I tried to source fire glass from a local nursery but the staff wasn't sure of the products so I ended up calling the manufacturer Exotic Glass in San Diego. After talking to one of their owners who was so knowledgeable and helpful I knew I would buy from this company. I was going to visit other store the next day but decided to search on Amazon and sure enough the Exotic products where there. I ended up buying the copper colored glass and the look is amazing!! Originally I wanted white glass but found out later after buying the copper that light colors are not the best choice to use in propane units as the glass can get tarnished over time. Anyway for me the copper is elegant and perfect. One bag fully filled our unit and contains a lot of glass. I am very happy with our decision and definitely will be buying from Exotic again in the future. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Used 75 lbs for average size fireplace. No need to modify your burner. Remove the old & lay on top. *by W***K on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 22, 2019* I contacted the company and was told I’d need 35#. I used about double that amount. The problem is I have this weird metal shelf that houses our burner. It’s 2” high on one side so I had to cover that, hence why I needed more to cover it. Outside of that, we didn’t have to do anything to achieve the look you see in my pictures. We removed our fake logs and lava rock and laid this glass all around the base and directly on top of the burner. I was told I didn’t need a layer of sand or pea gravel but had I done that, I wouldn’t have needed as much glass. I noticed the more glass I covered the burner with, the wider and thicker the flame became. The glass disperses the gas coming out of the holes so the flame becomes bigger. I’m not loving the change but everyone else is so it’s a win. It’s definitely cleaner and more modern and that’s what I do like. I made the switch to create more heat over my fake logs and lava rocks.
