There are just different sizes and colors. I think the 3 stage dual motor is very strong. I have no regrets buying this desk. **Q: Does this actually go down all the way to 23.6”? Their other 3 stage desks only go to 24.4” and I want the lowest one** A: At the lowest setting, the height at the top of the 1”-thick desk top is 24.6” **Q: Is the tabletop 100% smooth?** A: The black is not 100%, there is a slight texture to it. **Q: Is the desktop solid wood?** A: I think so. Hard to tell. Feels and looks solid, but I honestly am not in the process of making it. There may be a veneer on top of it. It's heavy.
