I really liked that he was 7 feet tall, with glowing blue eyes, and that he had a flash of fang about him. I also liked those cranial ridges, his growly purring, and the way he loved bacon. Very cute scene! He loved his human female and her cooking.Both h and H are likable, their interaction sweet, sexy and even endearing, and I would have loved more time with them together, especially later in the book when the H takes h back to his home world. There is some time spent with the reader seeing things/places through the heroine's eyes, but I do think that, maybe with a couple more chapters, we could have seen the heroine fitting into this new world more, the joy and the adjustment, more time falling in love, that sort of thing. I also wanted to find out more about how the H knew the heroine was The One for him.I also would have loved more time with the hero's family, seeing Jenna get used to the brothers, and seeing them find out more about Earth and human females. I know book 2 is planned, as more Hir males are eager to seek out Earth women, so I really hope the author maybe adds a little more to the next story. Adds a little more build-up and increases that feeling of romance.Definitely a couple of things I wish I'd had more, but overall, I did like this and enjoyed it for an easy, sexy escape. It was a fun read. Happy I took a chance on it. Several hours later after succumbing to my self-induced book coma, I decided I had found a talented and gifted author. Ms. Danes' fantasy world is different from the many I have read over the years and is refreshingly new and vibrant.Ra'kur is a warrior alien that stumbles upon his lifemate when he crashes on Earth. Jenna McNally has returned to her grandfather's cabin to pack up and sell the property after his passing. This sassy mouthed beauty is mourning when she meets Ra'kur. I'm beyond excited about finding this new author and really encourage you to delve into the world she has created in this new sci-fi series. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A phenomenal debut *by H***L on Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2014* Captured: Warriors of Hir follows Jenna McNally and Ra'kur's journey of becoming mated.First off, for everyone who is apprehensive to get into this book because of the whole fated mate trope, fear not– Captured is not as bad as you might think.Let me just say that the beginning of this book was AMAZING. Seriously. It was like kindle crack, I simply couldn't get enough. It was well written, exploring the different aspects of Ra'kur and the development of his relationship with Jenna. It was real, it was authentic, and when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. SO good!About 55% in, there gets to be a lot of world building, which is good. But I'm not really big on all that. I just want character interaction, which I know doesn't make for a complete book, but it's just a personal preference. It was a bit slow for a little bit in the middle, but it picked right back up and hit the ground running once again. The pacing was perfect and the writing was superb.There were some great sexy times but it wasn't drowning in it, for which I was extremely grateful.Jenna's character was great. She was sassy without being a female dog and had a great personality. She was also strong willed and courageous but also relatable and human at the same time.Ra'kur's character was so creative. I loved him! He reminded me of a big cat, haha! He was such a joy to get to know and his love and devotion was so pure and awesome, I just adored him. He was stubborn and sexy and just the right amount of possessive without being a jerk. Both characters were really well developed.I have found that debut novels are either really good or pretty bad.
