Review: Quality, Lightweight Rack with Many Mounting Options - This Schwinn rack is lightweight, all metal, and with many mounting options for most adult bicycles. I needed a small, but rigid rack to mount a motor controller box for an e-bike conversion I was doing on a 27.5" mountain bike. This rack worked perfectly with the simplest side mounting option using the supplied bolts. Other parts I didn't need included hardware for center mounting and no mounting points. With all the options offered I felt confident that it would fit in one way or another. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. My only necessary modification was to drill 4 small holes in the shelf plate to attach the controller box. There is a bracket at the rear of the rack for mounting a light or reflector, so I also added a common bicycle reflector that fits perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality, fit and price.

I used the part that connect to the center cross piece right behind the seat. It is very lightweight and sturdy. It doesn't have any spring loaded carrier, but I didn't want it.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the length of this rack?**
A: Sorry, I meant to include dimensions and forgot - I couldn't find them anywhere, either.  The rack is about 16 1/2 inches long, from the mid-point of the clamp opening to the rear of the rack, measured horizontally.  The rack platform itself is roughly 12 1/2 x 5 inches, and extends about 5 inches to the rear of the vertical centerline of the rear wheel in its mounted position on my bike.

**Q: what is the length and width of the rack**
A: width: 5,5"length: 16.375"

**Q: Could this also work as a fender? For like protecting your back from getting all wet/muddy from the tires?**
A: With a piece of thin plywood on top of the rack you might get some protection from mud and water. Howver I wouldn't buy this product as a subtitute for a fender..

**Q: What does this rack weigh?**
A: I don't know. However this rack is sold at Walmart. If you have a Walmart near you, you can go to the fishing section and pick up a fish weighing scale then take it over to the cycling section and weigh the Schwinn rack with the scale. Then put the rack back and take scale back to the fishing section. Leave Wal-Mart and and buy the rack here on Amazon b/c it is cheaper.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A well-designed highly generic rack system

Why am I not giving this unit 5-stars? First, it’s kinda heavy. Second, the kit was missing a couple of key frame bolts which, luckily, were still on my ~25 year old bike. The installation is straight-forward but not particularly easy because this rack is so adjustable for a very wide range of bikes (that’s both a plus and a minus…minus because its installation flexibility adds weight through those design elements). The rack is plenty large and can accommodate a small bungee cord. Really 4.5 stars if you have the skill / dexterity to install and have the patience…and the necessary frame bolts.
