This is much nicer to sew also. Doesn't hang up the thread like the heavy duty type velcro does. **Q: Do you think this would be able to be glued onto a straw hat to attach a face shield??** A: This product does not have any adhesive so yes you can add adhesive. We would recommend using an adhesive compatible with both the straw hat and our product. For your reference the loop (soft) side of this product is made of Nylon and the hook (rough) back is mainly Polyester. **Q: Will this survive the washing machine and dryer (if sewn on)?** A: This product Sew On can be machine washed or dry cleaned. This product is a great choice for that application. I cut the width in half when using it for that purpose so it creates twice the amount of length. The 'grip' of the hook & loop tape itself is very good and it's easy to sew into the tiny garments and non-abrasive on little hands during play time.
