I use the 18 gauge needles to draw, and then switch back to the needles that come with these to inject. I'm no needle expert, but these work well and pass my skin easily. You should draw with one needle and inject with another because puncturing the rubber stop of most vials dulls the needle considerably. The syringes are well-lubricated and are easy to read.
