**Q: Do thees work for mushrooms?**
A: hi there, these plates grow both bacteria and fungus so they are not the best for growing mushrooms.  I would recommend potato dextrose agar plates or malt extract agar plates, which are specific for only growing fungus (such as mushrooms).  Hope this helps!

**Q: what type of agar is used in these plates? Thanks**
A: Hi there, this is nutrient agar.

**Q: The instructions say incubate the plates for growth.  Do you have to??**
A: Hi There, It definitely helps to warm the plates up to at least 80 degrees.  They will probably still work at lower temperatures (i.e. in the 70 degree range), but it may take a little longer for germs to grow.  Most customers use a desk lamp.  If they live in a warm area, even leaving the plates on a window sill will work.  Hope this helps.  Please let us know if you have any other questions.
