We were used to soft sided carry ons with side pockets for papers or things we need to access easily but they wear out easier. This case doesn't have the side pickets of course but they way it is made lets you get a lot of clothes in it and it is very light. We use a soft sided carry on in conjunction with this one and that combination works great. The hard sided carry on will protect and last longer than soft sided carry ons so we are very pleased with it. Love the orange color too.
