I ordered a wide and am glad I did - traditional boots are often snug across the toe, and the wide provided for comfort. The heel is a tad loose, but a good pair of socks prevents any sliding. Length was true to size and the upper part of the shoe is genuine leather. I expect it to stretch a bit with time, so it is helpful to be mindful of that in choosing fit. I will add that wide shoes are often too wide for me, but I'm confident that a regular medium fit would have been too snug. They are a good style that go well with either dark or light jeans and are versatile enough to go with many pant lengths, with or without socks. Athough leather, the inside of the shoe is a lined with a soft padding reminiscent of a memory foam. If you're looking a quality pair of shoes mirroring a true loafer style, these are a good choice.
