Ugh.Bullet points...- After reading the reviews of the previous book in the series, Dragonmark, I waited until it was much cheaper before I bought it. I was really glad I did! The reviewers weren't wrong; however, none of the ones I read noted than Dragonmark wasn't mentioned/explained until the end of the story, and it wasn't done well At All, so I ended that book making really weird looking WTF faces.-Despite that, I got this one because I really wanted to know Falcyn's story. I didn't make it halfway through before the WTF face showed up. I'm pretty sure it's still there.- I had to keep SK's character pages (on her website) open so I could look up characters and refresh my memory.- Characters who have been evil, maniacal beings throughout the entire series are portrayed to be loving. (WTF??)- Medea mentions entirely too many times that she's one of the bad guys like that makes her cool. Seriously. Unnecessary and weird.- I didn't read the Lord's of Avalon, so I spent more than a little time confused.- Aside from LoA characters, some of the regulars (and not so regulars) showed up toward the end for no real reason. Gratuitous appearance, maybe?- Simi's speech pattern is usually pretty cute. This time it was ridiculous. It was too much, and stopped sounding like Simi.- When the book ended, I had no idea it was about to happen. NONE. I turned the page (kindle) and there wasn't anything left. I went back because I thought I missed something, but no, I didn't. It was like stopping in the middle of a sentence. There have been a few books along the way that I didn't like, but this is the first time I feel ripped off. The story itself is great, but this is literally half a book. I feel like I paid for a full length novel and I got the first half of a story. I finished reading it in a few hours. It ended mid- story.... I feel ripped off. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Only for hardore fans of Sherrilyn Kenyon *by G***Y on Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2017* If you haven't read several of her other books this one will be extremely confusing. Even having read the books in this series leading directly into this one I was confused by a dozen characters whose backstory was fleshed out in a novel I didn't read, or at least that's what I'm assuming/hoping.Kenyon is a great writer, her book Acheron is one of my most read in my collection, but I feel like this one was rushed for a quick money grab. Her stories also tend to be pretty similar: depressed powerful male with a bunch of trust issues meets either a nice defenseless girl who teaches him he's worthy of love or a bad ass angry/ depressed woman who also needs to be taught to love again.Kenyon also seems to have an issue keeping her own characters straight as in one book a character will be written as the most powerful being in the universe and another will be getting pushed around by a baby demon.All in all if you like fantasy then read Kenyon, but not this book.
