I have another brand hori hori and after several years of hard use, I still have not had to sharpen in it. **Q: Is this made in the USA?** A: The knife is stamped Made In Italy. The blade is Swedish stainless steel. **Q: Does the tang go all the way into the handle?** A: As far as I can tell the tang goes all the way in, although it is completely covered by the very comfortable handle. There is NO loosening of the handle that I have experienced, and I have used the knife regularly while I am cutting out very stubborn, fibrous, tough kudzu roots.
