Product works perfectly and doesn't slide on my hardwood floors. It does flex under their weight a little, but not bad. They both feel confident stepping up on it and pivoting on it, so I'm happy with my purchase. The only downside is the smell, but I have an easy for for that. Put a quarter sized amount of dawn dish soap in the pan and get a scrubbing brush and brush the inside and outside of the pan with the dish soap. Rinse it off, and leave it out in the sun for a couple days to "gas out". The dish soap pulls a lot of the chemicals out of it that make it stink on the surface. Letting the rubber sit in the sun seems to bake out the rest of the smell. There is still a smell if you put your face in it, but it doesn't stink the house up anymore. Review: GREAT training tool - I use the MILLER MFG feed pan (8QT) for a dog training device. We turn them upside down and use them as a stand for the dog to place their front feet on during training. We also put feed and water in them occasionally. These MIller Mfg. brand pans are great. In the 8 QT especially, they have a reinforcement band of extra rubber on the underside of the pan to give it strength. Most of the other pans I have tried dont have the reinforcement band of rubber on the outside of the bottom, so they will collapse under the weight of an 80 lb dog. MIller pans hold up, and hold the dog up. Beware to ONLY buy MILLER MFG. they are the best on the market. I have purchased pans that were supposed to be MILLER and when they came were FORTEX, which were not as strong for upsidedown use. The FORTEX would still work fine for feeding, I am sure. But for using as a stand , MILLER MFG is the one to get. My dogs also chew up everything into little pieces, they have not torn these up , and seemingly cannot. They use them as toys at times, and are rough with them., but still don't damage them at all. I have had my first set for over 2 yrs and they look brand new. Great product. UPdate 3/2013 We now use the Miller MFG 4 Qt feed pans for our dobermans, the pans are a bit smaller, but I think they work even better for the dogs, for training to stay in one position while going from stand to sit to down and back up to sit and stand again. .. keeping the front feet in the same place on the pan is great for competition training. It also is nice for training heeling position when turning in place. It is the HP-2 which is 4 QT or 1 gallon... but either the larger 8 QT or smaller 4Qt will both work fine if they are MILLER MFG . The dogs run around with the feed pans in their mouths and play with them. they tug with each other on them and the item still stands up... can't damage it . I left it outside for a few WEEKS to air out. The smell lessened but is still there. **Q: how do you get rid of the terrible rubber odor ?** A: I hear ya on that one - but please be rest assured, that this odor is a temporary issue. Depending on the purpose of this pan (livestock, pet, aviary) for either food or water, I filled my pans completely to the top and let water soak in it (without allowing animals to drink from it) for about two to three days. This relieves the natural "rubber" odor to absorb into the free standing water.. Either rinse or thoroughly wash with a mild soap to get rid of any algae or scum that may have formed in the meanwhile. These pans withstand frigid to boiling hot weather beautifully without cracks or wear and tear. I have had mine for over two years and they look and are as supple as the day I received them. These pans (Miller and LIttle Giant brands) also come in a model with two handles as well - "Rubber Tub with Handles" by Miller $24.56 and also buckets (round and corner styles). I have several of each type and I am not sure which the flat pan, handled pan or the two style of buckets, that I use more often; they are that versatile and indestructible to withstand pot bellied pigs, goats and donkeys. I live in the high desert of Southern Utah where the temp currently dips from 20^ at night and up to 70* during the day - ideal conditions to test the durability of these pans. While the water freezes overnight, smacking one end on the ground breaks up the ice nicely. After years they are like new. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Smelly but work great *by R***R on January 8, 2023* As a lot of other reviewers mentioned, these smell pretty terrible when you first get them. I tried throwing them in the pool for a few days hoping the chlorine would eat away at whatever that smell was. It didn't even help a little bit. Outside of the stink though, they are great for dog training. My 70 German Shepherd mix is able to put his front 2 paws on it and most of his weight without it collapsing or anything.
