## Questions & Answers

**Q: Had to cut back on some non essential items for our journey. Is this just as reliable as the real Xbox controller? Thanks -Stockton**
A: I'm not familiar with Xbox controllers or their reliability but, this one does lose signal on me after playing for a more than a few hours.

**Q: Any Ubuntu Linux users? I'd like to buy this for my Ubuntu 13.10 gaming rig.**
A: It works in Ubuntu. I've used it extensively to play games with my kids using this controller and the Steam controller simultaneously on Ubuntu 19.x, 20.x, 22.x. Works out of the box on Steam.

**Q: Can I use this controller to control a custom made airplane that I'm planning on building?**
A: I think you can, let me know if it works.

**Q: How does this compare in physical size to the PS3 controller? I'm looking for a controller smaller than the 360 one, hopefully PS3 size.**
A: Buy a PS3 controller, they work. At least Generic ones do, I'm using a Japanese Hori Pad 3 Turbo Wireless with Steam and UPlay with almost no configuration issues. The batteries in this and the film it's coated in will drive you nuts. I never used mine more than twice.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Garbage. 1 year and it's dead.
*by on Reviewed in the United States September 14, 2020*

Man they just don't make them like they used to. I still have a Logitech Dual Action from what maybe 2004? It's still my "old reliable" controller. I wanted something nicer and something wireless.Well the F710 was nice when it was new. It worked perfectly until it didn't. Windows will tell you it's not connected, then that you are "missing files" when the gamepad isn't detected. This thing went from "best gamepad ever" to "complete trash" for no reason. It's kept on a shelf in a cabinet and used less than 30 times. When new, I could use this gamepad from 20 feet away. Now it has to be within 8 inches of the receiver. When it was new, everything worked, all the time. Now, it simply disconnects on its own. When it was new, it was simply plug and play. Now it's an infuriating piece of garbage you can find COUNTLESS articles about. Because it's garbage and it just stops working after a year.Original review:Feels more expensive than it deserves to at this price!A great PC or Retropie controller. No-nonsense pairing (it's paired out of the box). The controller has a good heft to it, giving it that "expensive toy" feel. The buttons are responsive and the analog sticks are calibrated correctly.Using this on a Retropie and it's been a dream.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect Purchase
*by on Reviewed in the United States December 2, 2024*

Logitech is a gaming industry veteran, known for their innovation and solid designs. This gamepad continues that tradition. It feels great and works instantly, from box to PC, running Windows 11. Nothing to install but I will download the latest Logitech app for programming the buttons. Initially tested out using PCSX2 and a variety of PS2 arcade, sports and driving games. No lag, precise movement, sitting about 20 feet from the USB receiver, using the included USB extension cord. The gamepad itself has a heavy, solid feel, partially thanks to the 2 AA batteries (included). I love the rubberized grips. All of the buttons, pads and sticks feel solid as well. Once again, Logitech shines with its versatility, allowing users to switch between game interface modes - the newer Xinput and legacy Directinput for older games. The vibration feedback works well. It's exactly what I needed and all the better coming from Logitech, a brand I've trusted for nearly 40 years. Great price too!UPDATE: After putting through extensive testing (aka gaming) I have to say I love this gamepad. No lag, wireless great range. My -only- complaint would be the smallish size of the front buttons (L1, L2, R1, R2) compared to my Xbox controller. But you adapt, as one does. Duh.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice wireless controller that's compatible with many devices
*by on Reviewed in the United States August 14, 2014*

I have several devices capable of working with wireless USB controllers and wanted to pick one up. After doing a lot of research, I settled on the F710. I picked this controller because it has great compatibility with the OUYA as well as computers and a few other devices and the Logitech button the device perfectly mimics the OUYA button on the OUYA controller.First off, this is a solidly built controller. It feels good in your hands from the perspective of its build quality, but it's not really shaped for a comfortable fit, the curves on the upper left and upper right corners don't feel very natural. The buttons are responsive, the analog sticks are very nice (and feature clickable L3 and R3 functions) and the shoulder buttons are adequate. The controller also features a rumble function and it's got a very strong motor compared to other, cheaper controllers I've tried. It also has a switch on its back to change from xinput to direct input which is useful for those who intend to use this device with Windows PC games. The digital pad is just so-so and is the weakest part of the device. It's too hard and "clicky." If Logitech had used softer plastic and given it a little more play it would have been fine. It's still usable and you won't have any issues with diagonals or anything like that, but it feels considerably cheap compared to the rest of the controller. As for performance, the controller has worked great with everything I've tested it on so far. On the OUYA, it's almost a perfect replacement for the official controller. I say almost because it lacks a mouse pad and there are a few games and apps that don't recognize input from the controller, but they are an extremely small minority. I will specifically mention that XBMC in particular will not recognize input from this. For most of the games (and all of the emulators) I've tried, the F710 has worked like a charm. With xinput and direct input support for PCs, I've had no major issues with the majority of PC games I've tried it with either. No special drivers were required, it just worked. Before I purchased this I read about some issues with the controller not working well or lagging with distance from the receiver. The unit does include an extension cable, but I'm happy to report I haven't had any need of it. Primarily I use this device roughly ten feet from where it's plugged in. I haven't tried going beyond that, but I haven't had any major input or lag problems to report.Battery life is excellent. It includes two real name brand AA batteries and mine last for weeks of extensive use. Since then I've been using a set of rechargeable AAs I have and they've been excellent as well.I've been very pleased overall with this controller. The only things really keeping it from a perfect score are the shape of the unit itself and the disappointing dpad. On the PC side you may have to do some minor fiddling with it to get it set up the way you want (primarily with direct input apps) but that's the nature of the beast. This is a solid controller and while it isn't quite worth the original price, at $30-$35 it's definitely not a bad buy and comes recommended.
