- The Best Glide ASE Survival Fire Starter is the same issued to NATO soldiers. It includes a Flint Rod, Striker, 3 Tinder Quick Fire Tabs, and a Military Issue MIL-C-5040 Type III Paracord lanyard holding it together.
- The Fire Starter Rod is constructed from Copper, Zinc, Iron, and Magnesium. The Magnesium enables it to light up to 1,000 fires and produce sparks in excess of 3,000 degrees.
- The Striker is constructed of Hardened Stainless Steel; is easier to hold; has multiple attachment holes; and has universal striking surfaces.

If you're ever in a situation where you need to start a fire and don't have matches, a windproof lighter or anything else that would be better, this will do just fine. it makes sparks pretty easily and is great for scaring people on the street.

The Adventurer Survival Fire Starter is a basic ferro rod for starting fires quickly and easily. This product is cheaper than others and offers good dimensions at 2.5" in length and a diameter of .25". My biggest issue is the scraper that it was supplied with. It isn't squared enough on it's edge to remove adequate metal and produce the amount of spark others can. I'm using a firesteel.com scraper that works great with this ferro rod. Also, if you're carrying a knife you can "strike" the fire steel with the back edge of your knife if it is squared. Beyond the cheap scraper it's a good product.
