It is as accurate as you need for measuring your tracking force, the unit is small and can be stored easily, and has various settings for different measurements. I like having the included weight to check the accuracy occasionally. The only thing I see as a negative is that is sits fairly high and so you really should take the record and mat off to get a good reading, not that it's much different if you don't. Be sure that you use the exact model batteries when replacing and have some handy, because you probably don't have these around (LR43).
