This head unit has wireless CarPlay, which was the main requirement, and the usual hands-free calling, HD tuner and equalizer. It does not offer native maps, but CarPlay is what I use for navigation, so not an issue. The Alpine 507 offers a featureset that is unrivaled in head units from name brand manufacturers. The problem I had with the replacement head unit I originally bought was that it caused a weird (very weird) issue where the taillights didn't work when it was hooked up. I tried two different head units, both exhibiting the same problem. The Alpine 507 worked great and didn't cause the taillight issue--so this baby is a keeper! Review: Apple wireless CarPlay - Very nice unit. Alpine delivers again. Don’t listen to the nay sayers this unit is easy to install and looks and works great. You do have to push or turn the blue tooth know synced up every time but if you do that is connects flawlessly. I wanted the apple wireless CarPlay. I installed in an 2007 STI. The old alpine unit finally got a CD stuck in it after 17 years of use. Back then had all these seperate boxes, imprint, Bluetooth, xm, gps with I bet I shed 20lbs from boxes and wires. If you don’t buy a parking brake bypass then you can rig up a switch for parking brake to ground. Start it up flip the switch back and forth like PB set/reset. Worked great until my bypass came in. Now just a quick twist or push to Bluetooth knob and fire it up everything’s sync’s flawlessly. Kept the PDX600 and PDX1000 hooked up just a head unit upgrade and wow the sound is so much brighter. The 4v preouts must have gained some output.
