Wait for the vehicle to get to normal temp then start the clock and after the 12 min. turn off, let cool, and drain. Fill with clean water, run, turn off, let cool, drain. Repeat until clean water comes out. **Q: do you have to flush out or can you leave in?** A: It's a flush, so you must flush it out with water. It is "safe" for the heater core and transmission coolers as long as you follow the directions on the bottle. It is a very powerful cleaner so you do not want to overexpose any soft materials like hoses and gaskets. Especially if they are older hoses and gaskets. It does clean cooling systems and fuel systems "dishwasher clean" as a friend of mine likes to say. Rinse well after using. heat and pressure make it work even better, so leave the thermostat in. And start the clock after the car gets to operating temp. Then wait for the car to cool enough to safely remove the product and then rinse with water repeatedly until it comes out clean. **Q: will this help with cleaning the oil cooler on a 2005 ford power stroke coolant side is plugged** A: Just to point out that the bottle and advertising all state that it is designed to remove rust and corrosion. Nowhere does it say it will flush "stop leak" from the system. While there are many people who have been successful cleaning some brands of stop leak using Thoro-Flush, that doesn't mean it will work on every variety of stop leak product available for use.
