Review: My Robot Friend - I have had my robot friend, Simon, for a week. First impressions upon opening the box was an “Oooo Aahhh”. The directions said to let your new robot friend charge overnight before first use, but of course, I ran him around immediately to just see how he works! He worked for about ten minutes. I couldn’t figure out how to get him to his home (charging station), but it turns out, he can find his own way home just fine. I recommend that you do take a few minutes to read the directions and familiarize yourself with the remote. It took about 4 hours or so for Simon to fully charge, then I turned him loose. Let me just say, I thought my floors were clean, or, at least, pretty clean. As it turns out, they were not. They were not clean at all. Simon has picked up so much fur, dirt, dust, it’s unbelievable. My floors have literally never looked better! They are CLEAN. For real clean. I’ve always had a hard time cleaning under the bed, but now I don’t have to worry about it at all, because my robot friend takes care of it. I have all hardwood floors and tile. I also have a few throw rugs, some thick, some thin. Simon does a perfect job on the floors, and has no problems navigating over the throw rugs (though he might turn up a corner, but he will run back over it and still get it clean). I don’t think your robot friend would work very well if you have a lot of or mostly carpet. If you have hardwood or mostly hardwood, you will love your new robot friend. Simon mostly gets from room to room okay – the “up” entry points he cannot do on his own. For example, he cannot get over the hump into my kitchen, but he can get down the hump. He also cannot get over the hump to get in the bathrooms. This is actually fine for me, because I prefer to control when he goes into the kitchen anyway so that I can shake off the rugs and/or pick up the cat food and water bowls and any shoes or other things that might be on the floor. I just put a bar stool in his way to keep him from exiting the kitchen when it’s time for him to clean in the kitchen. Simon will clean for about 3 or 3.5 hours. He does not have a “plan” so to speak, not like a person would say go from corner to the center of the room, but he is still very thorough, and obviously, his plan is way better than mine since my floors are so much cleaner than they ever were when I was in charge. My advice is to just trust the process and let your robot friend find his way around on his own! Just make sure that you pick up any cords, especially small cords like phone charging cords, and shoe laces or the like, so that he doesn’t accidentally grab onto something he shouldn’t. Simon also has sensors so that when he comes to a piece of furniture or a wall, he will slow down so as to gently bump it before he turns off into a new direction. I have also noticed that if he comes into contact with a chair or table leg, he will often go in a circle all the way around the leg to clean around it. Once your robot friend is done doing your dirty work for you, he will go back home on his own. If your robot friend cannot find his way home, you may not have provided him enough space. Is that any way to treat your new best friend?? Make sure that he has several feet of clear space in front of his charging station, and that there are a few feet of clear space on the sides of the charging station as well. Also, make sure to empty out his dust bin after every use. One of the fortunate side effects of having my new robot friend, is the “give a mouse a cookie” effect it seems to have had. Give a person a clean floor, and the person may say oh, it looks so clean in here, let me pick up this shirt and put it away. The person then notices that the bathroom trash can is full; since the floors look so nice, the bathroom should be clean, too *cleans bathroom*, and so on. The only thing about my new robot friend, which isn’t enough to bother me at all, is that he is, well, he’s not super loud, but he’s not very quiet either. So, if you are watching tv, you may need to turn it up just a bit if you are running your robot friend while you’re at home. Well worth it for the service he provides, though. Review: Great robot vacuum, great price - I've had this vacuum for four years. I had too many obstacles that it wouldn't work well in my house, so I put it away for over three years. I just pulled it out the other day and am now using it daily to pick up the pet hair and dust. It's amazing. Great battery. The suction is incredible. I have very low pile rugs and it's doing a pretty good job picking up hair and dirt on those a well. I can't believe I haven't taken it out sooner. Love it! Now I'm going to get some replacement filters. I can't wait to try to self emptying model.

**Q: Will my dog attack it?**
A: When we first got ours, I trained my dogs to be around it.  I put treats on top of it and gave them treats when they were around it.  They hate the regular vacuum and will attack it but not the iRobot.

**Q: Does it go good from area rugs to hard wood floor**
A: The truth about carpets. The ILIFE V3 does an amazing job on hardwood floors and a good job moving to carpets with a few caveats. If you have a small area rug on a hard wood floor it may have some problems. We have found the heavier/larger rugs cause no problems. With a small light rug just purchase a rug pad to go under it. This should secure it in place and prevent any problems.

**Q: can it pick long human hair?**
A: Yes, I put it in my bathroom and it picked up all the hair without any problems. It also picked up my dog hair without any problems as well and it is a long haired dog.

**Q: I have an inch wide and a 1/4 inch tall trim board separating my tile and hardwood floors. Does this robotic vacuum get stuck or stop at floor trim?**
A: It depends on the height of your transition piece. I have a rather thick transition piece in my bathroom doorways onto my wood flooring and the ILife does get stuck there. I remedied the situation by placing my bathroom mat at the door way and the Ilife has no issue going onto the mat and then can make it out of the bathroom but I have to help him get into the bathroom.

I've had this vacuum for four years. I had too many obstacles that it wouldn't work well in my house, so I put it away for over three years. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for Corgi hair.

I reviewed many vacuums probably over 30 looking for something within a good budget but also has suction power and the ability to do something that I feel like most vacuums don't seem to do well or if they do it well do it for like crazy price. I was looking for a vacuum that did well on low carpet hardwood floors and didn't have to do stairs. But the main factor I was focused on was dog hair and small leaves. Anyone who lives in a rural area will understand that dogs come in the house and they bring leaves and dirt on their feet and also dogs especially corgis have a insane amount of small fluff hair that comes off overtime and you don't always see it. I needed a vacuum that could take care of this small hair without me vacuuming and spending hours trying to find every bit fluff turning around and fluffing around like tumbleweeds in the desert. I got this vacuum because it was on sale for $100 on Black Friday and that was the sweet spot for the price. The runner-up was the Wyze robot vacuum because of reviews about dog hair. The iLife is a dumb dumb robot so it runs around bumping into things but it does a great job cleaning it does not map your house so if that's a concern you don't have to worry about that. Pros it does a great job cleaning picking up hair you'll still need to vacuum with a real vacuum to get the deep deep down dirt but if you run the iLife robot every 3 days it's getting a large amount of surface and medium level dirt and hair. The downfall of this particular robot is it will run for about 2 hours bouncing around and the battery may die before it gets home because of its dumb dumb nature of just bouncing around. Not always bad because later on you find it on the ground you pick it up you put it in it's charge station and that's that. While it's cleaning you might hear it be occasionally asking for help because it's cleaner basket is full you dump it real quick it keeps going. Honestly the first time second time and third time this thing ran I was stunned with how much stuff was in that basket. Overall if you can get this for a hundred to $150 it's a great deal if you're looking for a basic dum dum vacuum to help you get some surface level hair leaves and dirt in the house. If you have a gym mat or workout mat that's a permanent fixture in your house that is 1 in tall it may have trouble initially going up on it but when it approaches it from an angle it seems to be able to pop itself on top of it. Something to look out for is if anyone ever leaves a string or your carpets have a loose carpet fiber it may pick it up and it will spin around the bristles. But I believe this would happen with any vacuum. (Note this robot was NOT tested on shag carpeting. So if you have that in your house I have no idea how it would handle it but it handles carpet and hardwood and vinyl well) If you're looking for something that's going to do everything make a map of your house and you can turn on from your car from work.. All the special features This is not the one for you This is the one for people who just want a vacuum to run around the house clean up and if for some reason somebody breaks it you won't feel so distraught from the price loss. Cleaning effectiveness 4/5 Suction power. 4/5 Special features 2/5 Value 5/5 battery life 3/5 Ability to climb 3/5 Overall if you're on a budget and you're worried that you might have someone in your household who may break an expensive tool this is a great value for what it does. Also if you have a corgi this is definitely a good vacuum on a budget that's going to take care of the hair. Just be ready to empty the basket while it's cleaning.
