The padding is a little thin but the bag is a great value for the price. **Q: Does this bag fit an Ibanez Mikro electric guitar?** A: The gig bag is just under 36 inches exterior length. If the Ibanez guitar is shorter than this length it most likely will fit in the gig bag. The bag fits a mini strat guitar. **Q: Would this bag be suitable for an Ibanez teardrop mandolin or better to just get the mandolin gig bag?** A: I have a fender squire mini in it so I think its 34.5 inches long. I think the mandolin should be 35 inches long. So yes I would try this for a mandolin. U can always return it. **Q: will a steinberger spirit fit in this case?** A: The case's outer dimension length is 34" so depending on what model your bass is for example, the Spirit XT-2 is also 34" scale length so it wont fit at all and forcing it to fit will only add stress and most likely damage the cases stitching. Otherwise it is a good fit. Because it has a bit of extra room I will add some padding before taking it on a long trip. Tosnail, if you are listening, consider adding some padding at the critical points such as the bottom and around the tuners.
