I purchased two of these. Very well made with trim to match the camera that protects the bottom of the camera and provides an ARCA tripod mount as well standard threaded sockets for other accessories. Fit and finish is superb and it is very easy to fit. A handy key which is magnetically attached to the underside of the plate is used to secure the camera and mount together. Once mounted it looks like an integral part of the camera. It locates without any adjustment and fits perfectly. One thing to note is that for access to the A 7IV battery door, there is a part of the base plate that swings aside. It will need to be closed when the battery door is closed. The A7RV does not need this for full access. There are no instructions so we had to work this out for ourselves. It is a minor inconvenience that you should note but it is well executed and does not look as if it will wear out over time. Pros: 1. Extremely well made. 2. Fits exactly. 3. Looks as if it was always part of the camera with matching camera leatherette finish around the edges. 4. Small rig is great as usual ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Must have for A7RV *by C***Y on October 17, 2025* This is mandatory for bigger hands. If your pinky hangs off the camera, this baseplate gives it a comfortable home. I’ve seen reviews of people saying it’s too small or issues opening the battery door and I think they got sent the A7iii grip instead. The one for the V has been upgraded for the longer grip and has a part of the baseplate that folds out so you can open your battery door all the way without having to remove the baseplate. It’s actually a very simple, yet clever design.
