They will mask the smell of you place it in the closet, but they will also destroy the aroma of your pot plants and alter the taste to a not so pleasant one. Our Fresh Wave Gels will remove formaldehyde odors in the air. Each 7 oz. Gel covers 200 sq. ft. of space so make sure to place accordingly. Formaldehyde odors take time to dissipate and as long as the source is off-gassing, continuous use will be necessary. Keep in mind, the key to removing toxins from the air is to create fresh air flow and allow any household goods to off-gas out of the home or in a well-ventilated room. **Q: Would this eliminate the odor from the trash compactor room adjacent to my apartment?** A: It would certainly help. It has a strong fragrance, but I think you should get the larger size.
