The Ice pack stays cold for less than an hour in summer temps. I have used it for relief after torn rotator cuff surgery. It is the best ice pack I have had for the shoulder. It allows me to strap it in place and move about the house. **Q: Can it be used on either shoulder?** A: Yes, the straps are removable to allow you to change this to either a right or a left shoulder, and the allow you to choose to use the soft velour-like side or the vinyl (colder) side. **Q: Hi, this ice pack requires refreeze time of 4 hours for each use?** A: I don’t usually have it in for the full 4 hours before I ice again. I will keep on my shoulder for 20 minutes and it seems sufficiently cold to help. I’m recovering from shoulder surgery and did get two packs.
