Instead of buying a new card (since bitcoin has jacked up the gpu market), I decided to replace them. This left me with one good, if unhoused, ATX fan and no way to make use of it since the connection is a mini four pin. Long story longer, I have an itx (Hadron Air) case which is constantly struggling with heat issues... so this adapter, a spare four pin to 3 pin adapter, a spare low noise adapter, a spare 3 pin molex adapter (Noctua spoils with the spare parts), my extra fan, heating/air duct strapping (bent as needed painted black attached with velcro for a fan mounting), installed to give me some extra airflow direction inside my case. Its helping to move air away from my cpu cooler and direct to my single exhaust fan (Only have 2 case fans, could exhaust both but seems to work better with one flipped for cool air intake onto the CPU cooler). All in all this fan addition has saved me about 5c, well worth it for my rig (GPU was 77-80c full load, now 72-75c/CPU (4790k) was 59-64ish, now 55-59ish though it bottlenecks at the gpu). It was a bit of a project I suppose but all in all fairly simple. Anyway, yea, this adapter worked exactly as intended to make an otherwise useless fan useful again.
