There are two levels of tension on the springs. It's very easy to switch between the two. You do feel better after using it for 20-30 minutes. Review: PILATES EQUIPMENT IS THE BEST!!!! - Takes some time to learn how to use this. However, I have owned Pilates equipment in the past and I know they are the best. I was hoping I could store this under the bed but didn't fit. At least it's smaller then the Performer!
