What you should know about this battery.
I’m only writing this review because of the misunderstanding about this battery. It is a lantern battery —but you have to understand—There are two large lantern, versions, a 6 V and a 12 V. They are identical in shape, but the posts are in different locations. Most of the people saying “it does not fit” are using a 12 V lantern battery for a 6 V lantern application. It is getting increasingly hard to find large size 6 V lantern batteries. But they are still made.On a sidenote, this 12 V battery sold here on Amazon is using D cells (inside) not traditional F cells. As a result, this 12 V battery is lighter than the older versions and it has less capacity.I hope this clears up some of the misunderstanding.

Pins will not line up with your lantern
The media could not be loaded. Since the pins don’t lineup correctly I had to do some creative engineering to get it to work. The negative pin is the only thing holding it together, but it seems to be ok. It’s really just for nostalgia purposes.

the battery arrived completely 100% dead. D. O. A.!
Although the battery arrived brand new, and was wrapped in shrink wrap plastic, upon opening it, and connecting it up to a small lighting system, the battery showed that it was dead on arrival. No charge at all. Got out my Texas instrument multimeter, brand new Ish, tested the battery and it registered 0.00 V , went out to the car and flipped open the hood and connected the multimeter and it registered 12.2 V… So I know the multimeter is working just fine. Rayovac Or whoever is sending out completely dead batteries. And they are not cheap either! Returns on the way!!

Bad battery
Posts were not spaced the correct distance between. Tried to tap them then bend them into the correct position. Ya and they broke.

The battery is defective and needs to be replaced.
The battery terminals are not spaced corec tlyso I can't connect my lantern to this battery. I have used 8 or 9 batteries over Many years and I have never had any problems with the 6 volt batteries connecting with my lantern. This battery is a factory defect and needs to be replaced.
