The way it works is that it sticks/bonds to itself so it has to be wrapped around the piece you are repairing, i.e pipe leak, insulating wire, sir line, etc. **Q: Will this be able to seal a hole in a garden hose?** A: If you follow the directions, yes.....the tape does not seal to the hose it seals to itself....so you have to stretch and wrap, stretch and wrap, overlapping as you go. **Q: Can you apply this tape under water?** A: Hello Julie, yes you can most definitely apply Rescue tape under water. It might take a little longer to fuse but it will in a matter of a few minutes seal completely. **Q: Will this work on a dripping metal pipe?** A: It did not work for me on plastic pipe, I doubt it would work on metal. Followed the directions, wrapped it tight so it was thin to get back into the spring loaded automatic hose reel from DeWalt, it went back inside without a flinch. I was drastically surprised. I felt almost like it wasn't ready or was already used.... But it's normal. Once you start stretching and wrapping it sticks like an sob. It also starts to thin out as it gets activated making it great to wrap a rubber air hose. No leaks and were two or three months out using 175psi. Save yourself cutting and splicing hoses, not worth it. Safer, faster, more reliable than a splice. See for yourself, thank you!!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great rescue tool, not a gurantee fix *by on Reviewed in the United States November 24, 2024* I used this to patch a leak in my power steering hose before I could get around to replacing it. It was an oily mess in a tight spot, dealing with a pinhole leak that developed right after changing the fluid, so I couldn't really get a good seal. It did slow the leak so I didn't have to add as much fluid and gave me some time. Probably works best on water based/ radiator hoses than on oil based situations.
