There is a zipper for the white layer inside. **Q: My bolster is still flat. How long to expand? I have had mine for 5 days** A: What do you mean by "flat"??? If it hasn't expanded to at least 5" or 6 " in height, then it may be defective. I left my bolster out for about 5 days, and it expanded in height to about 5", but it expanded unevenly (also it was hard as a rock and VERY uncomfortable), so I attempted to return it via UPS with an Amazon return code. It didn't expand in a day, a week, several weeks. Disappointing. But 1-2 months later it has fully expanded and is surprisingly a very nice quality! I have other brands of bolsters so I can compare to them. This has remained very firm in the middle with some slight cushioning surrounding the core. Its firmess tolerates this plus-sized woman nicely!
