He gets hot really quickly and thick oily paste didn't feel comfortable on hot days even if he was in and out of the water. I got this for him and he loved how light it was. It's white out of the tube and quickly disappears on the skin. We also both tested it after playing in the Southern California shore break waves which can hit hard and wash off your SPF. We reapplied once after the ocean and never experienced a burn.
