Don’t put in the butter, make sure the butter is mixed and you’ve added the icing sugar ! I've struggled to get white buttercream for ages. Adding a drop of purple food colouring, constantly whipping butter for ages! But this! After whipping my butter for about 10 mins, I put 1 x teaspoon directly in with the icing sugar, and wow, my buttercream is actually white!
