The suction shutoff is set up to use the stock smaller 1.25 hoses to the wall intakes. The discharge side of the shut off fits 1.25 or 1.5 threaded hoses. This allowed me to hook up the Intex sand filter with the hose that the pump used.You will have cut the wall of your pool if you have the 1.25" return. There are adapters you can use to make the 1.5" shut off work but you are restricting flow if you are upgrading pumps. Cutting the wall isn't bad, just be very careful.
